NoiseAPI - An API for Sound Level Measurement

noise api

The NoiseAPI range of noise monitors carry out all the sound level measurement, acoustic processing and noise analysis, and provide the results to your application through a well defined and documented API.

The NoiseAPI device connects to your network by WiFi or Ethernet cable and then just needs power to get started. You can access the noise measurements using HTTP or HTTPS requests. The responses are all JSON formatted.

For applications that need a live feed of the sound levels you can make connection using WebSockets (WS or WSS).

If you need access to the device from anywhere in the world (not just your local network) and don't want to handle the routing then you can use our routing server at noiseapi.com.

Indoor and Outdoor Installations

This version of the NoiseAPI, order code NMAPI-SE, is housed in a dust and weatherproof enclosure, making it ideal for most installations. For outdoor use it is protected against rainfall and for indoor use the enclosure offers protection against dust and accidental damage.

The NMAPI-SE is mounted on a wall and comes with a power adapter and long power cable (10m, 32ft). Connection to your network is by wired Ethernet or WiFi.

The noise processor meets the sound level meter standards to Class 2.

NoiseAPI with Noise Processor

The NMAPI-320 model has the same functionality as the NMAPI-SE, but is not enclosed in a weatherproof enclosure.

The Noise Processor and the NoiseAPI box can be mounted on a wall and they are joined by a short USB cable. The Noise Processor carries out all the sound level measurement and processing, while the NoiseAPI unit stores the results and makes them available via HTTP/HTTPS requests and WebSocket links.

NoiseAPI with Low Cost Microphone

For applications that do not need to meet the sound level meter standards to Class 2, the NMAPI-M model is provided with a low cost microphone instead of the noise processor.

The results produced, the sound level parameters and the API the same as the other NoiseAPI models, so interfacing with this version is just the same. The only difference is the precision (and hence the cost) of the microphone.

The NMAPI-M connects to your network by WiFi or wired Ethernet and your API requests can be made by HTTP, HTTPS or WebSockets.
