The VK1710 Vehicle Noise Measurements Kit includes everything you need to make sound level checks on car, motorcycle and truck exhausts. This kit includes a top specification Class 1 sound level meter that is ideal for both environmental noise surveys and noise at work assessments.
As the kit includes a microphone extension cable and remote measurement button, the processes of setting up the microphone and making the measurements can be done by a single person. The operator can sit in the vehicle controlling the engine speed while starting the measurement and averaging process at the same time.
The standard VNK1710 Vehicle Noise Kit includes the following parts:
Vehicle noise measurements are generally carried out in line with the ISO 5130 standard and other similar measurement standards. In this case the microphone should be positioned 0.5m from the exhaust outlet at an angle of 45°. The engine is brought up to the speed specified by the standard (it varies a little for different vehicles) and a measurement is made. This is repeated three times and the sound level meter calculates the LArep as required.
A 0.5m stick with 45° template is included with the kit to assist quick and correct positioning of the microphone.
Once the microphone is in place, the operator can sit in the driver's seat, controlling the engine revs and operating the sound level meter at the same time.
This Vehicle Noise Measurement Kit includes an Optimus environmental sound level meter. The model that is included is the CR1710 Class 1 Data Logging Environmental Noise Meter
As well as measuring exhaust sound levels, this high-spec meter is ideal for environmental noise surveys and occupation noise assessments too. It includes the usual period noise measurements that are generally needed for environmental noise. It also includes all the parameters needed for assessing noise in industrial environments in the battle against hearing damage.
You can find out more about this integrating sound level meter on the Optimus web page.
The NoiseTools software that is included in the kit downloads noise measurements from the meter for long-term storage and report generation.
The meter can be easily removed from the vehicle noise kit and used as a hand-held sound level meter for other applications. The main features of the meter are:
This meter is suitable for most applications, including environmental and community noise surveys, and occupational noise assessments
